Biography of Annie Flore Batchiellilys
Annie Flore BATCHIELLILYS, the Gabonese singer and renowned live performer, was born in Tchibanga (south-west Gabon) on April 10, 1967. She grew up in the care of her grandmother, who encouraged her musical talent despite Annie's desire to train as a motor mechanic. The startAnnie Flore was first discovered in 1988 thanks to the TV song contest "Bonsoir Musique", produced and presented by Denise Boukandou. From 1988 to 1990 Annie Flore performed regularly at the "Carrefour des Arts" (Arts crossroads), the training centre for young artists established by Pierre Akendengue at the French Cultural Centre in Libreville. In 1990 Annie Flore travelled to France to further her musical education, taking singing lessons, studying music theory and developing her stage presence, especially at the Studio Alice Dona. She stayed in France for thirteen years before returning to Gabon in 2003. Since 1994 Annie-Flore has taken her music to a much wider audience, performing her own compositions on various stages, especially songs in Punu (her mother tongue) and French.
