Fringed by a tangle of swamp forest, this river has a classic ‘jungle’ feel to it. A number of very rare bird species seldom seen anywhere else are often sighted along its banks including Pel's fishing owl, African finfoot, Hartlaub's duck and the white-crested tiger heron. On sunny days, slender-snouted crocodiles can also be seen basking on overhanging branches. The boat ride brings you to the charming settlement of Evengué Lodge. São ToméExperience a full day at sea on a trip around the island to explore São Tomé’s volcanic coastline : deserted and secluded beaches, waterfalls falling into the sea and amazing rock formations. We shall pass by Rolas Island and stop for a picnic and snorkel at Praia Vanha. We then continue along the West coast to the bay of São Miguel, only accessible by boat, now abandoned and part of the Obô National Park. Our trip ends with incredible sunset views from the Savannah coast.
