Gabon

Rembo Ngowe River - Akaka

Immerse yourself in the natural splendour of one of the remotest parts of Loango National Park, on the Rembo Ngowe River, where the dark waters containing manatees and hippos are lined by thick forest, inhabited by elephants, red mangabeys, buffalos and smaller mammals such as sitatunga
(swamp-dwelling antelopes) and red river hogs.

In the heart of this inhabited tropical rainforest and wetlands, you will find Akaka Bush Camp. The only way to reach the camp is by a spectacular 66-km, 2-to-4 hour boat trip from Loango Lodge, leaving the world and all its worries behind, and allowing you plenty of time to capture the essence
of Gabon.

Mpivié River & Fernan-Vaz Lagoon

Your Loango experience can either start or finish with a trip on the Mpivié River, whose dark waters are typical of the many small rivers that drain the coastal lowland forests. Fringed by a tangle of swamp forest, this river has a classic ‘jungle’ feel to it. A number of very rare bird species seldom seen anywhere else are often sighted along its banks including Pel's fishing owl, African finfoot, Hartlaub's duck and the white-crested tiger heron. On sunny days, slender-snouted crocodiles can also be seen basking on overhanging branches. The boat ride brings you to the charming settlement of Evengué Lodge.

São Tomé

Experience a full day at sea on a trip around the island to explore São Tomé’s volcanic coastline : deserted and secluded beaches, waterfalls falling into the sea and amazing rock formations. We shall pass by Rolas Island and stop for a picnic and snorkel at Praia Vanha. We then continue along the West coast to the bay of São Miguel, only accessible by boat, now abandoned and part of the Obô National Park. Our trip ends with incredible sunset views from the Savannah coast.
