KayakingAfrica's Eden offers kayaking trips for both beginners and those who have more experience. GabonFrom Tassi Savannah Camp, you can go out in a kayak on the calm Louri Lagoon. The Tassi - Louri area is an attractive patchwork of savannah, forest, swamp, and small coastal lagoons in proximity to an endless stretch of beach. During your stay at Akaka Bush Camp, you can head out onto the river with one of our eco-guides. Either take the houseboat used by National Geographic photographer and conservationist Nick Nichols while working on his book The Last Place on Earth, go out in a kayak, or use one of the other boats to discover sights that might not be easily visible from the shore. PríncipeDepart from Bom Bom Island Resort and let our guides introduce you to kayaking on the calm waters around Bom Bom Island, then kayak out to the ruins of the old church from the first Portuguese settlement on Príncipe 400 years ago. You can then hop from beach to beach up to Praia Sundi and visit the Marapa turtle programme in season and if you’re lucky even witness a few dozen baby turtles being released. You then retrace your steps back to Bom Bom. From Bom Bom follow the coast east to the two fishing villages of Praia Companje and Praia Borra, where you can disembark and learn a bit more about the relaxed lifestyle of the Angolares people of Príncipe as they go about their day to day chores. View a dugout canoe being made, nets being repaired or the drying and salting of the day’s catch, or take some snorkelling gear to explore the reef between the two fishing villages. For the more experienced, paddle out to the idyllic beach of Praia Banana or the beautiful bay of Baia Das Agulhas where you can enjoy a picnic lunch followed by some snorkelling between the huge volcanic boulders. On the way back, visit some of the fishing villages. Example itineraries
