Abseiling 30 meters & 80 meters - Príncipe

Get the adrenalin pumping as you abseil down the cliffs of Belo Monte with their spectacular backdrop of Banana Beach, one of the most idyllic beaches in the whole world. You will then follow a short footpath weaving between the giant volcanic boulders to Praia Banana where you can explore the underwater life with your snorkel gear or just relax on the beach and enjoy a picnic. On your return by pirogue, you visit Praia Borra, a local fishing village.

Petit Loango Trail - Loango National Park, Gabon

From Akaka Bush Camp, we offer the opportunity to those who are physically fit to walk the Petit Loango Trail. It is a rare experience of true wilderness with very few luxuries except for the beauty around you. The trail is 12 kilometers long, and generally takes 5 to 6 hours. The first kilometer is on water via boat or kayak and the remaining 11kilometers are on foot through the forest:

• The trail is relatively flat although footing can become a bit tricky in parts due to the amount of moisture, mud and water around.
• You will be required to carry all your own belongings and possibly some drinking water as well.
• The food is basic e.g. cereals, pasta and tinned food.
• There are no washing facilities, except for the stream or lagoon, if it is safe to do so.
• Be aware that dangerous animals such as elephants, buffalos, hippos and crocodiles may be encountered, but cannot be guaranteed.
• Max 4 guests for the trail in the wet season and max 6 guests in the dry season. This is due not only to logistics but SAFETY as well.

Once at Petit Loango there are activities such as walks, kayaking and looking for turtles. The entire trip usually takes 4 days. Please contact the Africa's Eden Team for more information and cost.

Quad Biking - Príncipe

At Bom Bom Island Resort we use quad bikes as mere tools for experiencing nature in a more adventurous way. All quad bike excursions are guided and stick to designated trails. Utility quads are used to ensure the minimum environmental impact. A short introductory course is available for beginners.

Praia Companje - 1 to 2 hours

Following the pass from Bom Bom to the top at Santa Rita, we turn off onto the little track to Praia Companje. On the way there we visit the farm of Cascalheira where cacao, coffee, vanilla and various other fruits are farmed. Here you will also see one of the biggest Oka trees on Príncipe. At Praia Companje you visit the beautiful little fishing village and see dugout canoes in the making, fishing nets being repaired, the small church and one of the fishermen’s houses, before enjoying a taste of some fresh coconut and salted flying fish. We then retrace our steps back to Bom Bom.

Jungle Explorer - 3 to 4 hours

Explore the jungles of Príncipe on the old Roça roads and trails as your guide briefs you on the local fauna and flora. The route you follow will depend on your experience.
